/DESIGN PROJECT: APPLETON LANE
DESIGN PROJECT LOCATION: SOUTH CAROLINA
INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO: KCL-IDESIGN, LLC
PRINCIPAL DESIGNER: KIMBERLY C. LYONS
PROJECT GOAL: CREATE A SECOND HOME OFFICE—ONE WITH INTENSE COLORS, A MOOD BOARD, AND A CREATIVE ATMOSPHERE TO INSPIRE UNLIMITED INSPIRATION
PROJECT OUTCOME: My home's style says a lot about who I am, and therefore, I approach the design process with authenticity, originality, and an accurate reflection of who occupies the space.
Fall officially arrives on September 22nd, and because I am a winter baby, I am ALWAYS delighted because it means that cold weather is slowly approaching.
However, Fall brings fantastic color palettes overflowing with vibrancy.
Moreover, despite red being my favorite color and yellow coming second, I love greens and oranges.
So, I headed to my favorite paint store and searched for the perfect match of both colors. It was a fantastic day because I found the ideal paint chip featuring each color. It was unbelievable because I had already visualized how it would look, but to see the actual image was even better. Over the next several days, I completed the required strategic process of preparing and working through the project. Once the backdrop (interior wall color) was in place, the furniture, artwork, floor covering, lighting, and decorative objects were ready to be placed.
Color can play a significant role in every space, and it fuels my creative juices. For instance, as I stated earlier, even though Fall is here, I see it daily because it is the backdrop for one of my home offices. It is funny because the color palette's inspiration comes from my highly praised Crayola Crayons, which I keep on a desk in another office. And by the way, they are original boxes. Furthermore, I use them daily to create unique color palettes. Being an individual who has always had a creative mindset, it is essential to be surrounded by inspiring objects, materials, finishes, patterns, and textures.
This vibrant accent pillow became the inspiration for the design project and room.
