PROJECT OUTCOME: INTRIGUING INTRICATE DETAILS
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: My home's style says a lot about who I am, and therefore, I approach the design process with authenticity, originality, and an accurate reflection of who occupies the space.
Regardless, I find intricate details highly significant. Whether revamping a dated room or starting a new design project, various factors, such as specific features, elements, design principles, unique characteristics, and appeal, will rise above others. Besides, when intricate details come into play, they become an essential part of the design process, which I prefer to incorporate from start to finish. During the early stages of my design career, I learned that sometimes the not-so-impressive objects are the most intriguing, tend to stand out, and are great conversation starters.
While in countries such as South Africa and Italy, I have found and purchased incredibly eye-catching objects. They may not be as attractive in others' eyes, but this is one of the main reasons I lean more towards the 'not so beautiful objects' because I consider them statement-making and usually become the focus in my rooms. However, I like to create 'simplified wow factors in my home.' They are not your dominant or typical pieces but pack a powerful punch when adding some much-needed character and style.
Moreover, intriguing intricate details can be anything that stands out in a room. The photos below show different areas in my home. The details are not overpowering, but they do make an impact.
The interior walls have a drip technique effect using three decorative coatings, which creates a beautiful contrast with the Patina wall sconces.
The sculptured lip art I hand-painted gives way to a textured look.
The interior wall is an intricate detail throughout the foyer/entryway.
Gold boots, a super cute umbrella stand, hold decorative umbrellas. They truly become handy on those rainy days.
A glance from above reveals that the detailed rope that trims the wainscoting transcends throughout the dining room. Tassels are at the end of each opening to create a cohesive and finished look.
An extensive buffet with carved intricate details displays the perfect ring pull knobs.
